Restock the Bar: Kansas City Barbeque
If you have memories of the Kansas City Barbeque in San Diego, you have certainly been told by now that a fire gutted the building Thursday. From SD Union-Tribune:
The fire broke out about 2:15 p.m. in the restaurant on West Market Street, located across the street from the Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel towers and near Seaport Village. It initially created so much smoke that clouds of it could be seen billowing behind Petco Park, where the Padres were playing an afternoon baseball game.
But (assuming you’ve been there) remember the memorabilia that lined the ceiling and walls? What if you could be a part of re-building that much of the KC BBQ? Because if you have not heard the great news, Martin & Cindy are rebuilding.

Let’s Restock the KC BBQ. Do you have a cap from your ship or squadron, an old picture of friends in the barbeque? Why not take part in restoring the KC BBQ. What kind of place would it be without the ton of little things that created the physical atmosphere.
Here is the location/contact information for KC barbeque in the interim, but I’ll try to contact Martin & Cindy to see how we can help, and just where we can deliver “Restock the KC BBQ” items.
Stay tuned (and start checking your closets and attic for what you’ll send) and if you have a memory of the Kansas City Barbeque, please share it (as well as anything helpful to the Restock effort) in the comments below.
