Navy Veteran

us-navy“It is with great pleasure and pride that I offer my endorsement to one of the finest individuals and former military professionals with whom I had the pleasure of serving while we were on active duty together at FASOTRAGRUPAC in the mid-to-late 90’s. As the Commanding Officer of FASOTRAGRUPAC, I had approximately 500 military and Civil Service personnel on my staff  …  Although the Navy lost a wonderful professional when he elected to pursue graduate studies, we at the command were grateful for his many contributions and shared in his excitement as he and his lovely wife departed to commence his studies at the University of Kansas School Of Law. Dan Covington is a true patriot and gifted professional who served his country with honor and is now taking that talent and dedication to serve his community. Dan deserves every success that his hard work and selfless commitment to duty have earned for him over the years. America needs to produce more individuals like Dan Covington.”

iPhone lawyer

I am now an attorney with an iPhone.  The 8525 is a great tool — nearly a mini net book, but Apple, “You had me at the app store.”kansas business attorney

After all of this, and this, and temptation by this, I’m a recent convert.  Development toward the iPhone (ie, it’s so prolific that everyone’s trying to get a piece of the action) and its nearly seamless capability to mashup data, media, and GPS, helped it wedge its way into my life.

Now that “iT” is here (my IdPhone), some disparate comments:

Apps iDig:  Maps (the street view added with 2.2 update); EasyWriter (landscape keyboard which will ‘paste’ to mail); Evernote (sync your notes and then some); Wikipanion (quick wiki search tool); NetNewsWire (only for my top 10 feeds; syncs with Newsgator); Google mobile (voice search, Reader … great, as ever); Shozu (upload photos as you shoot); GrandDialer (for your GrandCentral number); Dialer (Melodis; voice contact search/dialer); Yelp (find nearby java, gas…);

Helpful places:  iPhone J.D.; iPhone blog; and MacRumors

Oh, and yes — I’ve come to terms with the fact that there is value in a fun interface.  Say what you will, the iPhone has it.

The only thing you will need to provide in order to access the internet in the courtroom is a laptop equipped with a wireless network card (802.11 b/g), usually a standard component on most laptops.
